Garrett Camp was born on October 4, 1978 . .
He went to a small elementary school that only had 150 students. His high school was bigger, with about 1, 700 students.
After completing his studies he enrolled at the University of Calgary to obtain a degree in electronic engineering in 1996. After the third year he moved to Montreal to do internships at Nortel Networks, where he worked on speech recognition technology. During his stay in Montreal, he also attended courses at the University of Concordia.
He returned to Calgary in 2000 to finish his degree. He then began working on his Master's in Software Engineering and studied collaborative systems, evolutionary algorithms and information retrieval.

While in college, he decided he wanted to open his own business. He collaborated with three of his friends, Geoff Smith, Justin LaFrance and Eric Boyd, to discuss possible business ideas.
The company succeeded in a couple of years and its growing popularity attracted the attention of angelic investors in Silicon Valley. StumbleUpon was transferred to San Francisco in 2006, when he received his first funding round from Silicon Valley Angels.
The idea of ​​a taxi service had been instilled in his mind since last year and he collaborated with Travis Kalanick to found Uber (initially UberCab) in early 2009. Uber is a car service on demand available through an app mobile.
The company received $ 200,000 in start-up funds in the same year of its launch and in 2010 had raised $ 1.25 million in additional funds. Founded in San Francisco, it has extended to other cities such as New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. in 2011. It was a great success and in 2012 began to expand internationally.

Senior works
In 2002, he was part of the team that founded StumbleUpon, a web discovery platform. It has been a great success and has acquired over 25 million registered users in the ten years since its establishment. StumbleUpon is displayed in the 50 best TIME websites.
Garrett Camp was co-founder of Uber, a transport company that allows customers to send a travel request via the Uber mobile app on their smartphones. The company's services are currently available in 300 cities in 58 countries. It was estimated that Uber was worth $ 50 billion in mid-2015.
Awards and results
In 2007, Garrett Camp was included on the TR35 list of the best innovators under 35 at the Technology Review Emerging Technology Conference at MIT.
He was honored at the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards 2013 for his achievements in both StumbleUpon and Uber.
